Yogyakarta - After previously being held in Gorontalo, the book discussion "Pedaling between Waves: Leadership Discourse and Efforts to Build UNG" was held for the second time with the Gorontalo Student Association (HPMIG) Yogyakarta Branch on Thursday (11/11) at Cafe Basabasi, Yogyakarta.
Rector of the Gorontalo State University Dr. Eduart Wolok, ST.,MT., in his speech said, "This book does not intend to glorify itself, but to welcome all ideas and ideas in welcoming a superior and competitive UNG.
Arief Abbas, M.A., one of the authors of the book, said that the ideas in this book are entirely ideas that occur continuously in order to advance Gorontalo State University as an adaptive higher education institution.
“All the achievements of UNG are not done by one person, but together by involving many people. It is in this case that the rector's leadership is tested. There are waves here and there hitting," he said.
Arum Kusumaningtias, who was also one of the speakers at the event, responded and appreciated this book very well. To him, even Eduart was a visionary leader.
"Eduart has a big vision of how to make the university not only a place where intellectuals hide in ivory towers, but must go down to the grassroots to think about the fate of many people," he explained.
The discussion, which was attended by various diaspora students from Gorontalo and North Sulawesi, even Java, is expected to be a kind of reflection on how students should no longer sit idly by, but must become subjects who are able to contribute through various cross-sectoral works to create a positive impact. to the wider community.
