Gorontalo: The Faculty of Education is fighting to open a Special Education Study Program at Gorontalo State University. This effort is realized by asking for support and recommendations from the Higher Education Service Institute (L2DIKTI).

According to the Dean of FIP, Dr. Arwil Dayanto said that based on his direct presentation to the Head of LLDIKTI some time ago, the struggle for the opening of the Special Education Study Program had received recommendations to make proposals and upload the necessary data.

"We have obtained recommendations from LLDIKTI. Then proposals have been made by uploading the required data. Our plan has also received a positive response from the Institutional Directorate to open this Special Education Study Program immediately, "said Arwil.

According to Arwil, the initiative to open a Special Education Study Program was based on considerations including the absence of teachers who have particular education expertise for special schools and the Autism Service Center in Gorontalo Province.\

"The market from the opening of this Study Program is not only for Gorontalo Province but for the Eastern Indonesia Region," said Arwil.

To support the realization of the opening of this Special Education Study Program, Arwil admitted that he had made various preparations. Among them are providing human resources for teaching staff with linear qualifications of S2 education with study programs which are graduates of the best State Universities in Indonesia.

"It is hoped that LLDIKTI gives the recommendations, and the availability of human resources for teaching staff can smooth the FIP's struggle in opening this Special Education Study Program," he explained. (Wahid)
