UNG Library Technical Implementation Unit Build a Village Libraries Based on Social Inclusion

Gorontalo: The transformation of library services is currently increasing rapidly. Likewise, the library at the village level is a barometer of increasing community literacy in finance, information technology, science, and socio-culture. In accordance, the Library Technical Implementation Unit (Ina: UPT Perpustakaan) visited Banuroja Village in a series of social inclusion-based village library transformations (Thursday, 4/2).

Head of UPT Perpustakaan, Dr. Ismet Sulila, said that this activity was a form of implementing the cooperation agreement between UPT Libraries and the Department of Library and Archives Pohuwato District.

"We visited Banuroja Village to build a village library so that it can contribute to the community. This is also a direction from the Rector of UNG that every library program must provide real benefits for the community," explained Ismet.

Ismet said that the UPT Library would maximize efforts to involve all elements of society and government in efforts to build villages. 

"Through reading books and various training that will be centered in the village library. We hope that the village community, especially in Banuroja, will have the opportunity to improve the quality of life for their families. So this village can truly become independent and resilient," explained Ismet.

Head of Library and Archives Pohuwato District Lusiana Bouty expressed her support for this activity, hoping that there will be an increase in the community's quality of life obtained from this social inclusion-based library program.

Dewa Gede Eka Setiawan, MSc, and Arif Hariyanto, S.Pd. are UNG lecturers presented in this social inclusion program. Together with the community and the Banuroja Village youth group, Dewa discussed "how to make nata de coco preparations," and Arif delivered material on refereeing.

Meanwhile, in a discussion session related to the development of the Banuroja Village library office, the Head of the UPT Perpustakaan accompanied by Abid (Head of Cooperation Development) and Hans Ruchban (Madya Librarian), discussed strategic steps and stages related to efforts to revive the Banuroja village library which had been operating for several years. Then with Yusri Ismail (Head of Reading Culture, Pohuwato District Library, and Archives Service), I Made Suardana (Head of Banuroja Village), Ahmad Faiz (Sekdes Banuroja), and all elements of the Banuroja Village government.
