Gorontalo: Achievement of a teacher by obtaining the title of Professional Teacher is glory as proof of the professionalism of the teacher profession. However, passing the Program Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) and earning the title is not the end of the learning process to develop abilities.
"Being a professional teacher does not mean you have to stop learning. But instead, you are required to learn more and develop quality and capacity because the world of education continues to develop," said UNG Rector Dr. Ir. Eduart Wolok, S.T, M.T, when inaugurating 143 graduates of the PPG UNG Program, Tuesday (2/3).
As the Chairman of the Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) Gorontalo Province, Rector UNG said teachers must see that today's learning mindset has shifted.
"In the past, the teacher's duty was emphasized as a source of knowledge. But today, one more task is added, namely as a facilitator in facilitating students to be more optimal in terms of developing their potential," he explained.
According to the Rector, the challenge for millennial teachers is not only to teach and show professionalism as a teacher but also to adapt to current developments, especially technology.
"When carrying out their duties, teachers must be able to provide solutions for this era amidst the different educational models. Teachers are no longer allowed to teach conventionally but must be more adaptive to current developments that make more use of technology," concluded the Rector. (Wahid)
