Student Executive Board Holds National Seminar to Stop Radicalism

Gorontalo: In increasing the younger generation, especially students, to ward off radicalism which is the embryo of terrorism, the UNG Student Executive Board held a National Seminar on Strengthening the Role of Students and the Young Generation in Counteracting Radicalism and Terrorism on Thursday (8/4) in the UNG Record Meeting Room.

President of BEM UNG Rezky Putra Mantali said the younger generation who will become the front guard or leaders in the future must have the ability to explain to the public how to take appropriate action to tackle radicalism and terrorism.

"We are, the nation's next-generation have to reveal to the people out there that acts of terrorism or understanding of radicalism are not good for us," Rezky said.

UNG Rector Dr. Ir. Eduart Wolok, ST., MT., Appreciated the holding of a national seminar with the theme of strengthening the role of youth and students in counteracting radicalism and terrorism.

According to him, this kind of seminar is critical in warding off radicalism. Moreover, our nation and state have been slightly disturbed by several actions lately by particular groups who want to destroy diversity and the life of the Indonesian people.

"Through this national seminar, it is important for us to proclaim, strengthen, and strengthen the younger generation, especially students, who are the backbone of countering radicalism. In addition, they must also be at the forefront to reject the notion of radicalism and terrorism that can damage the life of the nation and state," said Eduart.

The Chancellor added that young people always maintain the motto of the Indonesian people, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. It can be realized by respecting each other and developing a tolerance for life. Because a prosperous, equitable, and affluent society is a society that grows without the seeds of hostility. (Rachmad)
