Independent Campus Cooperation and Digital Talent Scholarship

Kemendikbud Ristek: The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) through the Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti) signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Human Resources Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemenkominfo) on "Synergy of the Resource Capacity Building Program Human Resources through the Implementation of the Independent Campus and Digital Talent Scholarship (Digital Talent Scholarship) on Monday (10/5/2021). The signing of the cooperation agreement was carried out online by the Director-General of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti) Nizam and the Head of the Human Resources Research and Development Agency (Balitbang SDM) of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Hary Budiarto.

Nizam welcomes the collaboration between the Directorate General of Higher Education and the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Research and Development Agency. Nizam said that inter-ministerial and inter-sectoral synergies are significant in developing Indonesian human resources, especially in accelerating digital talent in the university environment. In addition, this collaboration aims to improve the quality and synergy of programs in communication and information technology with programs in the fields of education, culture, research, and technology.

"The implementation of this cooperation agreement will be in line with the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka policy, with its main activity being to support the improvement of the quality of Indonesia's higher education sector. By going directly, we have the hope of creating the advancement of superior human resources from Sabang to Merauke," said Nizam.

At present, continued Nizam, through the Merdeka Belajar: Independent Campus policy, students have the opportunity to improve their competence outside the study program they are taking. The Ministry of Education and Culture has collaborated with 17 ministries / high state institutions to synergize programs to implement the Independent Campus policy. The collaboration of Higher Education and the Ministry of Communication and Information is expected to produce many digital talents from universities.

The Head of Balitbang Kemenkominfo also said that the Digital Talent Scholarship program is following the five directives from the President regarding the implementation of digital reform. "We have implemented this Digital Talent Scholarship Program following the direction from the President. There were five directives delivered, one of which was implementing training for 600 thousand digital talents who are trained every year. The implementation of this training will undoubtedly be beneficial for the creation of superior human resources, "said Budiarto.

The cooperation agreement between the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Research and Technology, and the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Research and Development Agency is expected to be an effort to prepare reliable digital talents in the face of the industrial revolution 4.0. The strategy implemented includes preparing the things needed by the workforce and providing training for competency experts in the industrial era 4.0. Then, develop competitive digital talents and have a character so that HR will master existing technical competencies and be given soft skills training.
