Gorontalo – Gorontalo State University Library collaborates with several institutions initiate an effort to strengthen the literacy spirit among Gorontalo people by conducting a literacy talk show in order to remembering 102 years of Hans Bague (HB) Jassin, Wednesday (31/7).
According to Head of UNG Library Basri Amin, literacy talk show becomes the opportunity to bring back the name and work of HB Jassin which has faded from people memories. As a national figure from Gorontalo who are famous because of his literary works, HB Jassin must be remembered and appreciated by all of Gorontalo people especially young generation.
“HB Jassin is Gorontalo’s son who has raised Indonesia with his works in literacy field, language, and literature. What he have done must be appreciated with various ways, one of that is to bring back his works,” said Basri.
Through literacy talk show, Basri invites the people especially young generation to know HB Jasin’s works deeper and can utilize his works as a source of knowledge in order to continue the HB Jassin’s struggle in literacy and literature.
“People can enjoy and learn directly from HB Jassin’ works such as Al Quranul Karim Bacaan Mulia, several of his letters, and his hand writing that are shown in exhibition. This activity is expected to give many benefit to people,” he said.
Held by Faculty of Education Universitas Negeri Gorontalo and supported by ten universities as co-hosts and an organisation.
