Thirty students from eight faculties in Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG) had a fun and informative two weeks at the third Annual Students’ English Camp 2013, run by Center for Partnership and Cooperative Development (PKPK) UNG in cooperation with PEACE (Pare English Application Center) Kediri and The Fulbright ETA. With the theme “Have Fun With English”, The camp offers a varied fun, an interactive atmosphere, adventure, and educational program in English for the students. The camp will be held for two weeks from November 27th to December 11th 2013. Students are taught by fun-loving tutors who are well qualified with degrees in language and education, experience in Teaching English as a foreign language and have previously joined international camp and youth exchange program. At the Camp, students learn English through role-play, simulation, presentation, discussion and cultural performance. We encourage students to learn and practice more English, show that learning English is fun. Each day starts with prayers and preaching, morning exercises, English songs and games, followed by fun, interactive, stress-free lessons with Native Speakers from America, instructor from PEACE and local instructors. Among the typical cultural activities and team building in the afternoon, the team building activities with ropes, ball games and English Camp’s talk show are students’ favorites. The program is able to expose the students to be more comfortable speaking in English to participate in exciting activities during the camp. This camp will also encourage the participants to feel free to speak and interact using the English Language. Through the English camp, we want to bring people together. We create an adventurous program which is to be set in a safe environment. Finally, we do hope all the committee, instructor and participants will enjoy this great experience, said Vice Rector IV Prof. Dr. Hasannudin Fatsah, M.Hum in the opening ceremony.All the activities will be carried out in the English Language and only the English Language will be used (except in performing prayers) It is our vision to encourage and enhance the usage of the English Language not only for academic but also life purposes through the implementation of English In Camp.
